Optimizing Clinical Trial Performance

The high and rising cost and duration of clinical trials activity has prompted sponsors and CROs to implement a wide range of new practices and technology solutions.  This session explores the root causes of clinical trial operating inefficiency and poor performance and why efforts to accelerate cycle times and reduce costs have largely failed.  The results of several major studies recently conducted by the Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development will be presented and their implications discussion.  This session will conclude with a look at new approaches that are being implemented to optimize clinical trial performance through improvements in protocol design, executional feasibility and patient engagement.
